Out and about
Stockton’s a great place to go to university, with plenty of local attractions, activities, shopping centres, nightclubs and bars. As an up and coming area of the North East you will find Castlegate Quay will wet your cosmopolitan appetite with a waterfront full of cafes, bars and restaurants.

If shopping’s your hobby, then Teesside Retail Park can offer you everything from TKMax to Morrisons supermarket. It also has one of the largest Showcase Cinemas around so there is plenty to do if you decide to have a quite night in. Middlesbrough and Darlington are short train trips away and provide boutique to high street shopping.

Night Life
There is pretty much somewhere to go out every night of the week, as Stockton is so centrally located you get a choice of bars in not only Stockton itself but also Middlesbrough and if you like it old school why not get the University provided bus up to Durham on a Friday night. Most bars in the area offer cut price drinks on student nights. The Cornerhouse in Middlesbrough on a Monday night has £1.50 pints. There are coaches, which leave from the Rocket Union, so £4.50 gets you coach and entry.

Hush in Middlesbrough is a very popular student bar open 7 days a week but Wednesday nights are the best drinking value with a coach service from Queens Campus for £4.50 (entry too). The great thing about going out in Middlesbrough is that it has more taxis than people, well almost! You never have to wait in a queue and costs around £8 back to Stockton, so about £2 each, bargain! In Stockton itself, you have many pubs and clubs to suit anyone’s taste from quiet pubs to noisy bars. The Dubliner, were you get a full Sunday lunch for £4, Moby Grape for some R&B or Rileys Pool Hall are just to name a few.

Getting Around
Living at Rialto you’ll find most places are within easy walking distance. However, trains, buses and taxis (I kid you not) are a popular and cheap way to travel around. Thornaby Train Station is about 2-3 mins walk away and has frequent train heading into Middlesbrough and the rest of area.
