April Newsletter for Waterways Residents
Social Events
Recent feedback has shown that you would prefer the social event to be held in the middle of May as many of you haven't returned from Easter yet and have exams in the first week of May. The RC’s are in the process of arranging the resident trip to the Nottingham Ice Arena. For further information please speak to Senior RC Jacob Bould who has been planning the event for sometime.
Competition
Well done to those who have taken us up on the Video tour competition. We still welcome more participants. Closing date is 26th May. See www.mainstaystudent.co.uk/competitions or the accommodation office for more details.
Maintenance
Please report problems promptly and remember to sign a maintenance form as Jim can not enter a room otherwise without your presence which will delay the process. We will always try and rectify a problem as soon as possible. In some cases we are waiting for parts from our suppliers so please be patient. We do chase the parts regularly to get all jobs resolved a quickly as we can.

Please make sure you contact us if you have any issues, particularly in the evening. We are here to help. We will shortly be putting out information on the Ice skating trip! Watch Facebook and the Notice boards for more information.
Questionnaire Results
Thank you for those who answered the questionnaires. Overall we are pleased to hear that our residents enjoy living at Waterways. We have taken on board your feedback regarding the internet and laundry availability and are striving to improve these services for you. We will keep you updated on any progress.
Rebooking
If you have yet to decide whether you are staying with us next year, come down to the office and we will be happy to go through the many options available. We still have a couple of rooms left at the £88.50 rate, but please register your interest asap to avoid disappointment!

Welcome to our March newsletter where you will find the latest on rebooking, staff changes, competitions, social events and helpful safety advice
Competition
This is open to all students but may be of particular interest to those studying graphic design or film studies. We are looking for a student/group of students to create and design a photo portfolio and video tour of Waterways for future residents. The chosen winner will win £100 and Mainstay will use the material in advertising on their website and others such as Facebook, Twitter and many more. The closing date is 22nd March 2010. Please see the Accommodation Team for further information and guidelines.

Resident Coordinators are currently planning for the next resident's social event, which will be held sometime in April. they are planning on arranging a trip to the Nottingham Ice Arena. We would appreciate feedback on this suggestion or any other ideas you may have for future events.

Waterways are delighted to welcome 'Tayo' and 'Kishen' to the team. If you have any questions just ask them, they are here to help!

We will always try to rectify a problem as soon as possible. In some cases we are waiting for parts from our suppliers so please be patient. Helpful Tip for not setting of Alarms
When cooking in your apartment, please be aware that your kitchen door needs to be shut! The fire doors are there for a reason and cooking with it open leaves a window for fire to spread easily. Also should you burn anything i.e. toast etc, this will cause the main building fire panel to activate.
For Information, please remember that we have a fire drill every Thursday around 12 noon. The fire procedure is displayed on the notice boards and a letter copy is being prepared for all tenants. Please make sure you evacuate the building to the assembly point whenever you hear the alarm.
